The Corruption Has Gone Too Far-No Thrones, No Crowns, No Kings
12:00 - 2:00 pm
Come be part of the historic, peaceful resistance movement that's taking back our democracy. Bring a sign! Come listen to speakers and join in songs of resistance. Walk, bike, or carpool strongly suggested.
Saturday will see more than 3000 No Kings events all over the country (and some overseas!), all united in demanding the restoration of our democracy!
We will have a wonderful event in Falmouth, expressing our hope, outrage and solidarity, building community and having some fun! We have a few compelling speakers and some special music planned.
We'll have some interesting tables near the flagpole, including an art table for kids. If you want to sing along with the Freedom Singers and the Singing Resistance you can find the lyrics of several songs on our website. We suggest printing the lyrics ahead of time if you can.
Don't feed the agitators! If someone who objects to our event attempts to provoke you, please don't engage. Turn your back, step away, and look for a marshal in a green vest to help de-escalate. If it's too hard not to respond, flash a peace sign, say "God Bless You", or otherwise meet hate with love. Our strength comes from our gathering in harmony, not from having an argument. When we refuse to engage, we deflate their energy.
No Kings 3 has a new local twist -- we have applied for and been granted a Special Event Permit by the Town of Falmouth. This allows us to hire police details, make various arrangements with the Department of Public Works, and generally streamline cooperation with the Town. We extend a big thank you to the Police, the Select Board and the Town Manager's office for helping keep us safe and happy!
Please walk, bicycle, car-pool, or take a bus if you can. Regarding parking: We plan to have a parking guidance map on the website soon. We have permission to park at Mullen Hall School. Please do NOT park at Lawrence School unless you can be out by 1:30, as they have an afternoon event. The lot behind the Bank is mostly public parking, and we have permission to use the Bank's six spaces since the bank isn't open Saturdays. (We do NOT have permission to park at the Congregational Church or at St Barnabas.)
And not the biggest news but we'll have two porta-potties at the southwest corner of the Green.
We're looking forward to a great event!!!
