A Response To ICE in our Communities
We need people on our teams Cape wide for rapid response to ICE in our communities.
Cape Cod Safe Communities has reached out to the immigrant rights organization LUCE Immigrant Justice Network of MA to set up exactly that: rapid response teams/ verifiers which would bear witness to ICE arrests in a calm and non-violent, non-confrontational way.
LUCE (Liberation, Unity, Community, Esperanza) is an independent hotline which works closely with MIRA (MA immigrant and refugee Advocacy) and other immigrant rights organizations. LUCE was created entirely by volunteers in response to the increased stops and arrests being conducted by ICE. The Coalition, in order to understand how to best respond to the presence of ICE on Cape Cod and the Islands, reached out to LUCE for direction, training, and inclusion in their hotline response system.
In essence: LUCE sends alerts and we respond.
In order to be part of this team you must be trained by LUCE which we will do via Zoom or in person.
