I'm thrilled to announce-by popular demand-the launch of our 2025 Democracy Summer Dreamers program for Boomers, Millennials, and Democrats of a Certain Age who want to participate in Democracy Summer and back up our young Fellows!

With one week to go before we kick off Democracy Summer 2025, I'm bombarded everywhere with this question from Millenials, Gen-X, Boomers, politically engaged retirees and other true-blue Democrats of a Certain Age who are not eligible to become Democracy Summer Fellows because they are no longer in college or high school:

"Can we please participate too?!"

The answer is now: yes!

Nearing its 20th anniversary, Democracy Summer has trained thousands of high school-, apprentice- and college-aged Democracy Summer Fellows across America to become Democratic organizers and leaders.

But, for the first time, this summer we are launching the Democracy Summer Dreamers to open up our spectacular programming to a parallel young-at-heart but battle-hardened cohort and to create a multi-generational volunteer corps to back up the Democracy Summer Fellows when it comes to voter registration, rallies and the like.

I don't need to tell you that we're in the fight of our lives against the autocrats, and everybody knows the stakes: while thousands waved signs in Maryland and I spoke to more than 100,000 people assembled at the Philadelphia No-Kings Rally, more than 5 million people rallied across America to defend the Bill of Rights and strong democracy.

So beginning at Noon on Monday, June 23rd, 2025, the Democracy Summer Dreamers can watch the weekly livestream of our regularly scheduled Democracy Summer seminars, which feature exciting guest lecturers at the forefront of the struggle to defend strong democracy and freedom, like premiere Democratic election lawyer Marc Elias; Yale Professor Tim Snyder, author of On Tyranny and Bloodlands, Florida Congressman Maxwell Frost, New Jersey Senator Andy Kim, and Harvard Professor of History Alexander Keyssar. All seminars take place on Mondays from 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm ET, but if you have prior commitments at that time, we will provide you with a link to the recording.

Then the Democracy Dreamers from across the country will take part in a one-hour virtual discussion every Wednesday with me and/or Howard University Associate Professor Norman Sandridge, Kallion Leadership founder, to explore the themes and questions raised in the weekly lectures. These workshops will take place on Wednesdays from 7:30-8:30 pm ET and are designed to deepen the intellectual engagement, sharpen the political lessons, foster community, and further develop leadership and organizing skills among participants.

All program registrants will receive a copy of the beautiful and now iconic Democracy Summer poster designed by Shepard Fairey, the artist who made the Obama Hope poster. Everyone who signs up will also receive additional information about the program next week, so stay tuned!

I am grateful for your solidarity and friendship, and look forward to seeing you this summer.

With gratitude and nothing but great high hopes for America,

Jamie Raskin
