Despite Chuck Schumer announcing that Senate Democrats were united in fighting for a clean, 30-day continuing resolution (CR) to keep the government open without handing Trump and Musk a blank check, on March 14, Schumer and 9 other Dems taking his lead, caved and allowed a terrible Republican CR to pass.
That CR is the opposite of "clean." It includes massive cuts that will jeopardize Social Security, leave tens of thousands of families without homes or food, and slashes benefits to veterans. It's a slush fund that gives Trump and Elon Musk even more power over federal spending. Instead of trying to rein in the Trump and Musk power grab, this CR legitimizes it.
Although there may be differing opinions, when Indivisible National polled a virtual meeting of more than 1,000 group leaders the next day, 91% voted to demand that Sen. Schumer be replaced as leader with a senator who is willing and able to fight against the Trump administration more powerfully and effectively. Following the meeting, National released this statement calling on Schumer to step aside as Senate minority leader.
Indivisible co-leaders Ezra Levin and Leah Greenberg recommended that Indivisible groups across the country also ask their members if they would like to issue their own statement about whether Senate Democrats should replace Schumer as their leader.
With this survey, Indivisible Mass Coalition is asking you, our members, to vote on whether or not the Indivisble Mass Coalition should formally call for Senator Schumer to step aside as Senate Minority Leader.
